In 2012, Karen G. constructed
a detailed
scale model
of the
asylum seekers' centre where he lived.

The asylum seekers' centre closed in 2012, and with it, the physical representation of its inhabitants vanished. Only the model remained.

After many years, initiator and cultural producer Milena Mulders and her team discovered it. They exhibited the model at various Dutch organisations before it found its permanent home at the Rijksmuseum.

I filmed the model,

and through optical magic,
houses and alleyways appear lifelike, bringing it closer to the visitors.

I also integrated these visuals into an existing interview with Karen G., where he recounts his story.
